AEW and NJPW are set to put on another Forbidden Door event, but the card saw a change on the day of the show. Adam Cole was pulled out of his match against Filthy Tom Lawlor, and that changed up the card in a way fans didn’t expect to see. They actually considered changing things around, but they nixed the whole idea instead.

Sean Sapp noted behind Fightful’s paywall that AEW and NJPW considered replacing Adam Cole when he couldn’t make the show happen. Instead, they just scrapped the match.
There was consideration of having Tom Lawlor face someone else on Forbidden Door but it didn’t end up happening.
Serpentico vs. Tom Lawlor was a dark match before the show, with Lawlor winning. So, at least Filthy Tom got some action at Forbidden Door.
We will have to see how AEW & NJPW Forbidden Door turns out. Obviously, anything can happen in pro wrestling, and surprises could be coming as well.
