Craig Nielsen Obituary, Death – Craig Nielsen was born in Payson, Utah on June 25, 1972, to his parents, Barry and Vickie Nielsen. Tragically, he likely passed away on September 30, 2020, due to a medical condition while he was hunting in Payson Canyon, a place he cherished for its mountainous beauty.
Beyond his love for the mountains, Craig had a variety of interests that enriched his life. He found joy in riding motorcycles with his friends and honed his taxidermy skills through self-study, reading books, and watching instructional videos. He had a penchant for old westerns and car racing, frequently tuning in to these on TV. Craig was an avid reader, using books to delve into subjects that intrigued him, and he also enjoyed working with wood.
At the time of his passing, he was employed at JSI Store Fixtures in Payson, and his family expressed their gratitude to the company for their support and concern during this challenging time. Craig is survived by his parents, his brother Chris, and his sister Karen, who is married to Mike Beagley. He also left behind a nephew named Aaron, a niece named Ashlee, his beloved family cat, Bella, and his closest friend, Steve, who provided unwavering support throughout the family’s difficult journey.
Sadly, Craig was predeceased by his grandparents, Carl and Bertha Lindstrom, and Jack and Lois Nielsen. In line with his wishes, Craig’s body will be cremated, with services arranged by Legacy Funerals in Spanish Fork, Utah. The family will hold a private gathering in his memory. They extended their heartfelt appreciation to the Utah County Sheriff’s Office, particularly Sargent Gordon, and Payson City, Detective Dodgen, for their dedicated efforts to locate and bring Craig home, underscoring their deep gratitude for their compassion and support.
